Mysteryland 2017 Review - Dare To Discover This Utopic Fest

The mother of electronics festivals welcomed and surprised more than 100.000 people in its 24th consecutive edition. Take a closer look and learn about it. Mysteryland 2017 was a first-class electronic festival. The finest and diverse 14 stages combined with the alluring huge fields of Floriade terrain and the wide variety of electronic styles made it a marvelous experience.

Location - Floriade Terrain in Haarlemmermeer

Mysteryland and this extensive colorful grounds belong together. It’s the exact place to develop their magnificent fest of 16 areas. The beauty of the field rests on the lakes that surround it, the flora that color the area and a square green hill that offers a panoramic view.

Organization

I will rate Mysteryland organization with 10 out of 10 points. Every service worked effectively and efficiently. It was truly easy to buy your food, go to the toilet or reach any place you wanted following the signaling. There was also a diverse and vast amount of food, bars and tap waters spots that offered you free water. There were a lot of security guards and first aids areas too.

Camping

The camping plaza counted with much more facilities like a silent disco, a supermarket, a tattoo shop, styling salon, yoga classes, and funny games. When the Festival finished, the camping after party appeared to please the unstoppable electronic dancers. I highly recommend staying at the camping if you want to live the complete experience of being at Mysteryland.

Stages

Mysteryland stages characterized for being artistic and genuine. Every single stage had its authenticity and offered a particular electronic fest, for it music style and decoration. I enjoyed visiting all of them, there was something new to observe and appreciate in each one.

Q-Dance Stage Mysteryland 2017

Main stage

This multi-colored stage hosted mostly well-known house DJ’s like Showtek, Kshmr, Axwell Λ Ingrosso, but it also had the trap and hardstyle of Yellow Claw and the exceptional trance of Armin Van Buuren. The quality and power of the sound were appropriate to its spacious field. What impressed me the most of this stage was the atmosphere the set of lights created at night, joined by the fireworks of the end show.

Q-dance

The hardstyle genre was the protagonist of this vivid stage. The infrastructure was as monumental as the main stage and more attractive in my opinion. The End show of Q-dance was full of fireworks too so it was a tough decision to decide where to finish Mysteryland fest. Noisecontrollers, Atmozfears, Ran-D and Frequencerz were some of the DJ’s that played here.

Paradise

This heavenly tent only opened with this name on Saturday and hosted electronic monsters such as Carl Cox, Dubfire, Jamie Jones and Joseph Capriati. The decoration and set of lights of this tent were ordinary, more traditional, however, this tent was truly seductive to the electronic experts for its talented DJ’s.

Elrow

The famous party brand known for its colorful and vibrant theme parties was present again. Techno producers like Eats Everything, Paco Osuna and Marc Maya leaded this charming tent.

The Big Top

On Saturday this tent was hosted by spinning sessions and on Sunday presented live acts and changed its name to The Big Top Live. This stage was the bigger closed stage. I enjoyed principally the second day, listening to Sigma and Netsky live acts was something that distinguished this stage.

Other stages like Cocoon, Crazy town, Thunderdome, Milkshake, Casa Bacardi, Annie’s Fiesta and Healing Garden offered their shows too.

Saturday Artists

Carl Cox at Paradise Stage Mysteryland 2017

Dubfire

Ali Shirazinia the Iranian – American DJ producer played his entertaining techno at the Paradise stage. Deep sounds dominated his set with a background of percussion instruments and futuristic machine effects. He performed a soft techno that was well received by a tranquil audience.

Jamie Jones

This original DJ perform his tech house at Paradise and made the public loose into his music for two hours. His danceable and changeable rhythms generated a dynamic set that freed our bodies. I relished his melodic and innovative techno.

Deadmau5

Joel Zimmerman led Saturday line up and performed his distinctive progressive house at the main stage around 17 pm. I enjoyed his singular rough and sharp set, but I felt that some part of the audience didn´t. I believe that the reason of it was that his rhythms weren't to danceable. Although I appreciated his show I thought he would have something better to offer.

Carl Cox

This brilliant DJ closed Paradise stage with a breathtaking set. His acid house stimulated all of us to move incessantly. He surprised us several times with his sound overlaps and put us in a fantastic party mood.

Yellow Claw

Alesso´s unexpected absence set Yellow Claw in charge to finalize the first day at the main stage. They definitely did it splendidly with their hardstyle electronic music. The combination of their loud music and the awesomeness of the lights and fireworks of the stage generated a surreal atmosphere.

Sunday Artists

Oliver Heldens

His future house made Mysteryland main stage vibrate. He remixed great songs with proper arrangements. Although I found his show very entertaining I think he played too many commercial songs like ordinary DJ´s.

Netsky LIVE

This was a very different show comparing to most of the others. It was a live presentation where Boris Daenen the DJ played the synthesizer and the keyboards accompanied by a team of musicians. The audience really loved this original proposal of live drum and bass genre.

Armin Van Buuren

The king of trance music concluded Mysteryland at the main stage with a terrific set. It was astonishing how his intense set took us to a state of trance. The fastest and hardest show of the day combined with the explosive end show was the most thrilling moment of all the festival.
